I agree with soloing at first... I actually think i may go down the route of being a crafter... depending on how it turns out...
then again... I would like to see what options i have with a lance...
But to get used to the game before venturing into fields of danger with my friends seems wiser.
However as an old fan on XI i agree.. party play is enjoyable but i just want a nice little duo-trio with a few of my friends.
In other news i think Gulkeeva has a new stripper miquote picture as their avatar!(Srsly? where's the seductive moogles! I'M WAITING!)

But seriously whatever comes, soloing or partying we are all going to primarily make initial mistakes and laugh about it afterwards, I'm looking foward to playing with most of you if not all of you with great excitement^^
Oh and Saner leave me some Tanking to do, you can have the DD bit he he he
Loved Tanking to bits don't mind getting killed now and again, cannot be helped sometimes all in a good day's work ^^

It seems like they're going with my preferred partying style in FFXI: duo or trio with some friends, just roaming around a zone.
I used to go out and level DNC with a BLU friend and occasionally a SAM if they wanted to tag along. The BLU and I could share tanking and healing duties while doing decent damage, and the SAM would tear the mob up. We could also do fun subs if we wanted (/NIN wasn't really necessary in this party, we had plenty of healing power - I always liked there to be at least one person /COR until level 50-ish, there's really nothing better).
FoV made this style of partying even easier.
I found it much more fun than the tank-buffer-puller-DDs-PL setup you'd find leveling in a big group, standing there and waiting for the next mob.
It sounds like this is exactly the partying style they want us to go for in FFXIV. I'm excited.

The party-system will underline what SE meant with "We want FFXIV to feel more like an offline Final Fantasy title". So you might solo, and you will need more ppl for stronger mobs, but without a penalty when you do not have a "full" party.

My guildleve....
