I keep hitting F5 every five minutes, thinking there will be magically hundreds of new topics I can post in. The problem is that I've exhausted all of my posting options and I need more threads to post in! Well, to be honest with you, there's still other threads I can post in, but I have no mindful gems to contribute with. And if I don't have any mindful gems to donate, I feel like I shouldn't donate them at all. Knowwhatimsayin? So then I don't post. But I feel like if I'm not posting, my sanity is being siphoned away by some mysterious sanity-siphoning force. I sense him. He is near.

Crazy, I know.

So, I upgraded my video card, "to play ffxiv". Did the preorder. But now have 60 days to wait until I can play.
What to do?

I decided to go back to an old "perfect world" account I had. And.... it rocks!
The new card lets me keep the details cranked high now.
Graphics are awesome in towns. Lots of quests. I happen to have found a friendly "linkshell" equivalent by accident.
About the only thing I miss, is actual talking quest people, cutscenes, etc.

But this thing is *free* ! !!

FFXIV is going to have to be really, really good to keep my money after a month or two.

SO, a little background on me.
I've played FFXI for a <long time>. mage 75 job, dd 75 job, assorted crafts, etc.

Warning: This post is going to be all about me and my characters, so you might be very bored. However, you might find it interesting if you're curious about how characters can/are often forced to evolve in a game, because the same thing that happened to me is probably going to happen to many of you. No MMO will completely match our expectations; there will always be aspects of the game that we had thought would be different. This is especially true of character creation. You may want to have a Keeper of the Moon with long, black, curly hair, but at the moment that's completely impossible. So what does this mean?
