Hello everyone,

I haven't been around much lately because I've been getting tired of all the forum arguing. It was depressing me, so I decided to swear off forumming until open beta when we have some real things to discuss.

This blog thing, on the other hand, has interested me enough to bring me back, so I'll try it out. I'll do my best to be as entertaining as possible.

As to those on my friends list: if I've added you, it's because we've had pleasant conversations, you have amused me, or I'm a fan of your art/music/translations/something. If you think you should be added/removed/etc'ed, message me and I'll add/remove/etc you. Don't ask how one etces, we'll figure it out when we get there.

I'm a 23 year old Californian. I'm also a linguist, a bellydancer, a geek, and a worldbuilder. I'm not really a "gamer" but I do play games, my favorites of all time being Riven, Myst Online: Uru Live, FFXI, and Silent Hill 2. And hopefully FFXIV.

I've been helping a few of my friends to create their FFXIV characters lately, so I thought I'd make a post on it here just in case it helps someone else.

This little guide can be used by roleplayers and non-roleplayers alike, but it's tailored toward people who want to make their character fit into the world.

If you choose to use these methods, you don't need to follow the listed order. You can actually start with any one of these steps, no matter what the number is. Just choose whichever one jumps out at you as a good starting point. For example, if you're already certain about what race you want to play, start with that and develop your character from there.

1. What kind of character (appearance, personality) do you want?
-One that's similar to you
-One that's similar to another character you've played before
-Something completely different

A character that's similar to you is usually the easiest to play, especially for beginning roleplayers. Some people have specific character archetypes...

Hmm... So I'm not really sure what I'm doing, but procrastination spurs me to make pitiful blog entries!

First of all, I'd just like to say that of all of the FFXIV info sites I've gone through in the recent months, this is the one I keep coming back to. I think it's probably the best at presenting clear, meaningful information, as well as the most friendly forums I've been across. Not to mention the great podcast. So I made an account, and here I am. Yay, Eorzeapedia!

Don't mind me if I lurk a bit... I tend not to post on forums unless I have something meaningful to say. Which isn't that often XD

What worries me a little, though, is that I'm completely new to the world of MMOs. I've played my fair share of solo console games, but even then my gaming has primarily been casual to the extreme. I'm Tahngarthor, how's it going? I've been playing FFXI for over 6 years and been part of the FFXIclopedia community for nearly as long. I'm a Jr. admin of this site and FFXIclopdeia.
